The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®) is an international non-profit, multi-stakeholder organization that aims to promote responsible management of world’s forests. Forests play an essential role in climate regulation. Together with oceans, forests are the key ecosystems the planet uses to remove carbon dioxide (CO2) – the most important greenhouse gas – from the atmosphere. Carbon is stored in both trees and forest soils, and the world’s forests contain roughly as much carbon as our atmosphere.
